Our Story
The Campia Moda® story begins with two friends with a mutual love of Hawaiian shirts. Alex and Chris met while vacationing on the island of Kauai in 2008. Between snorkeling adventures and luaus, they spent hours browsing the local shops, looking for the most eye-catching Hawaiian shirts. After the trip, they stayed in touch and continued adding to their Hawaiian shirt collections.
Over time, Alex and Chris became frustrated with the lack of quality and selection offered by mainstream brands. Most of the shirts they found were cheaply made or relied on dull, generic prints. They knew there had to be customers like them who wanted well-crafted Hawaiian shirts in modern, vibrant styles.
In 2012, Alex and Chris decided to launch their own Hawaiian shirt company. After months of planning, they founded Campia Moda® later that year. Our first collection featured 16 styles that showcased the bold patterns and luxe fabrics Alex and Chris had struggled to find from other brands. To their delight, the collection was an instant hit with customers looking to upgrade their warm-weather wardrobes.
Buoyed by the success of their debut collection, Alex and Chris committed to growing Campia Moda® into a premier destination for quality Hawaiian shirts and other stylish casual apparel. We added new shirt designs each season, using customer feedback to refine our offerings. And in 2015, we expanded into categories like swimwear, shorts, and polo shirts.
